A Stunning July Wedding at Silvertip Resort | Canmore Wedding Photographer

If there is one thing that never gets old as a Canmore wedding photographer, it's watching couples say "I do" with the Canadian Rockies standing proudly behind them. The mountains are truly one of the most spectacular backdrops anyone could ask for on their wedding day, and Stephanie and Brandon couldn't have picked a more perfect venue than Silvertip Resort and Golf Course for their July celebration.

Perched above the town of Canmore with sweeping mountain views in every direction, Silvertip Resort is one of Alberta's most breathtaking wedding venues. Surrounded by towering peaks, lush forests, and endless Rocky Mountain scenery, it was the ideal location for two people who love spending their time outdoors exploring everything the mountains have to offer.

As both a Calgary wedding photographer and Canmore wedding photographer, I always get excited when I see Silvertip on my calendar. Every season offers something different, but July? July is simply magical.

A Sunny Summer Wedding in the Rockies

This gorgeous July wedding gave us everything summer in Canmore is known for bright blue skies, warm sunshine, and those unforgettable mountain views. Sunscreen was definitely a must (trust me, everyone was thankful for it!), and we spent the day exploring some of my favourite photo locations around Canmore while celebrating this wonderful couple surrounded by the people who love them most.

The day began at the The Grand Rockies Hotel in Canmore, where Stephanie and Brandon each got ready in separate suites with their wedding parties.

Let's be honest...the guys definitely have it easier on wedding mornings.

Step one: get dressed.

Step two: say "I do."

Step three...party?

Meanwhile, the ladies somehow fit hair, makeup, dresses, shoes, jewelry, happy tears, and about a hundred little details into the same timeline.

One of my favourite moments every wedding day is seeing the excitement (and yes, the nerves!) before the ceremony. I always tell my couples that the second they walk back down the aisle together, all of that pressure melts away. They get to simply enjoy the rest of the day as husband and wife.

Stephanie spent her morning surrounded by her bridesmaids and parents, along with a very special FaceTime call from her nana, who wasn't able to attend in person but still got to wish her a happy wedding day. It was one of those quiet, meaningful moments that reminds you weddings are about so much more than beautiful details.

Speaking of beautiful details...

Stephanie looked absolutely stunning in her lace gown from Durand Bridal, paired perfectly with elegant Aldo shoes and her signature wedding-day perfume. Her timeless bridal look was completed by the incredibly talented JuliaJoyMUA. If you're planning a wedding in Calgary or Canmore, they're one of my favourite makeup artists to work alongside. Their ability to enhance each bride's natural beauty while creating a look that photographs beautifully is truly unmatched.

Saying "I Do" at Silvertip Resort

Before long, it was ceremony time.

Officiated by Aydin Odyakmaz, Stephanie and Brandon exchanged heartfelt personal vows in front of approximately 75 of their closest family members and friends. The ceremony was intimate, emotional, and full of laughter, the perfect reflection of who they are as a couple.

One of the reasons I love photographing Silvertip weddings is how effortlessly the venue flows from ceremony to portraits to reception. After family photos on the Tea House balcony just below the ceremony gazebo, we climbed into their rented limo and headed out for portraits around Canmore.

Originally, we had planned to stop at the iconic Three Sisters Viewpoint. Mother Nature had other ideas.

Because of the heavy rain and glacier runoff, water levels were much higher than usual, making the viewpoint inaccessible. Thankfully, this is one of the many reasons I always have backup locations ready for my couples.

We made our way to Quarry Lake instead.

Honestly? It couldn't have worked out better.

Quarry Lake is one of my favourite portrait locations near Silvertip. Between the mountain reflections, forest pathways, shoreline views, and peaceful atmosphere, there are endless opportunities for beautiful wedding portraits. Bonus points for all the adorable dogs enjoying the park, there's something about seeing happy pups that makes everyone smile.

An Elegant Reception with Mountain Views

Back at Silvertip Resort, guests were welcomed into a beautifully decorated reception space complete with sparkling fairy lights, rich purple accents that perfectly matched the wedding palette, and one of the sweetest memorial tables honouring loved ones who couldn't be there to celebrate.

Every detail reflected Stephanie and Brandon's personalities.

Their gorgeous wedding cake was created by Bake My Day Calgary, while MamaG's Cookies crafted beautiful keepsake wedding cookies that guests absolutely loved taking home.

Of course, those panoramic mountain views through the reception windows stole the show all evening besides the baby squirrel that decoded to crash the beginning of the reception.

The Best Part of Being a Wedding Photographer

If you've followed my work for any amount of time, you'll know speeches are one of my favourite parts of every wedding.

I get to hear the stories.

The childhood memories.

The embarrassing moments.

The heartfelt advice.

The tears.

The laughter.

Every speech gives me a deeper glimpse into who my couples are and the incredible people they've surrounded themselves with. Sometimes I catch myself wondering how I'll ever hold it together when it's my own daughters getting married someday.

Thankfully, I have many years before I need to worry about that.

For now, I simply get to immerse myself in another family's story. That's honestly one of the greatest privileges of being a Canmore wedding photographer. I don't just photograph weddings; I get to witness the beginning of a new chapter while becoming part of that day's memories forever.

Time to Dance!

Once dinner and speeches wrapped up, it was time for the dance floor to officially open.

Vissertainments Productions kept the energy high all night long, and let's just say the dance floor did not disappoint.

I absolutely love photographing dancing. Kids showing off their best moves, grandparents sneaking onto the dance floor, couples singing every lyric together, it never gets old.

And yes...

If "Baby Got Back," ABBA, or pretty much any nostalgic dance hit comes on, you'll probably catch me quietly mouthing every word while awkwardly dancing behind my camera trying to capture everyone else looking far cooler than I do.

It's glamorous work, obviously.

Planning Your Silvertip Resort Wedding?

If you're searching for a Canmore wedding photographer, planning a Silvertip Resort wedding, or dreaming of saying your vows surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, I'd love to hear your story.

Whether you're planning an intimate mountain elopement, a destination wedding in Canmore, or a full celebration with all your family and friends, my goal is to create timeless, genuine photographs that allow you to relive every emotion long after the wedding day is over.

Canmore will never run out of breathtaking locations, but it's the people in front of my camera that truly make every wedding unforgettable.

I can't wait to see where your adventure begins.
