Rida first reached out to me at the beginning of 2026 while planning her May wedding celebration. From our very first meeting with her family, it was clear how important relationships and storytelling were to them. One of the biggest parts of choosing a wedding photographer in Calgary is finding someone you genuinely connect with, especially when your photographer is beside you for every emotional moment throughout the day.
Pakistani weddings are known for their rich traditions, meaningful ceremonies, luxurious fashion, and unforgettable celebrations. Having photographed Nikah ceremonies before, I was excited to document a larger-scale wedding that combined cultural traditions with an editorial and modern wedding photography approach.
Rida envisioned timeless imagery that felt authentic, elevated, emotional, and artistic. Every detail reflected their story and the love they share after years of travelling back and forth between Calgary and Washington before finally celebrating with all of their family and friends together.
Elegant Wedding Decor and Traditional Nikah Ceremony
The ceremony and reception spaces were transformed by Majestic Weddings and Events using warm peach, coral, gold, and brown tones that perfectly complemented the grandeur of the venue. Soft pink and peach florals, gold seating, upholstered sweetheart furniture, and sparkling chandeliers created an atmosphere that felt romantic, classic, and luxurious.
Guests were welcomed into the ceremony space with live harp music performed by Deborah Nyack, creating a calm and elegant ambiance before the formal family processional began. Their Nikah ceremony, led by Immam Sheikh Hassan, was emotional, heartfelt, and deeply meaningful for everyone present.
One of the sweetest highlights of the day was the couple’s raspberry vanilla wedding cake created by Arin Hiebert, the Palliser’s pastry team. Cutting the cake immediately following the ceremony was the perfect way to begin cocktail hour and celebrate the start of married life together.

The Oval Room at the Fairmont Palliser provided the perfect setting for family portraits and romantic couple photographs. The classic interiors, soft lighting, and historic charm created an editorial feel that elevated every image while still allowing genuine moments to unfold naturally.
The day began with bridal preparations alongside her mother while Brishna created soft, glowing glam looks that beautifully enhanced their natural features. Pakistani bridal fashion always brings incredible opportunities for storytelling through photography, from intricate embroidery and traditional jewellery to meaningful heirloom details.
One of the most emotional moments of the day was the couple’s private first look before the ceremony. Before being surrounded by guests and family, they shared personal vows together in a quiet moment that allowed them to truly take in the significance of the day. These intimate moments are often some of the most treasured memories couples carry with them after the wedding.
A Celebration Filled With Music, Dancing, and Emotion
The reception brought incredible energy as traditional performances and music filled the ballroom. Tenzin Ngawang entertained guests with live singing before DJ Gurps opened the dance floor with crowd favourites that had everyone celebrating late into the evening.
As beautiful as the celebration was, the most emotional moment came during the send-off. Watching Rida’s family embrace her before she left with her husband was deeply moving. Pakistani wedding traditions carry so much love, symbolism, and emotion, and witnessing those moments unfold is one of the greatest honours of being a wedding photographer.
Every wedding leaves an impact, but Rida and Burhan’s celebration will always stay with me because of the warmth, kindness, and love shared throughout the entire day.
